Treasurer charged with theft from Denville Blue Angels Football Club

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Denville Township man who served as the treasurer for the Denville Blue Angels football club has been accused of taking more than $100,000 from the club, police said.

On Aug. 21, the Denville Blue Angels (DBA) Football Club reported suspicious activity regarding the organization’s bank accounts, police said.

After a thorough investigation, it was discovered that Gerald Castellano, 58, the organization’s treasurer, embezzled money from the football club in excess of $100,000 over an extended period of time.

Castellano was subsequently arrested on Oct. 3 and charged with theft by unlawful taking. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.
