Truck driver rear-ends parked tractor-trailer after swerving to avoid a deer on I-78 in Hunterdon County, state police say

TEWKSBURY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A truck driver swerved to avoid a deer and then rear-ended a parked tractor-trailer on Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County Tuesday morning, according to New Jersey State Police Trooper Brandi Slota.

The crash happened at around 3:34 a.m. on Interstate 78 eastbound in Tewksbury Township, Slota said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a tractor-trailer was parked on the right shoulder of Interstate 78 when a tractor-trailer swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway and subsequently rear-ended the parked tractor-trailer, Slota said.

The driver of the parked tractor-trailer was transported to an area hospital for precautionary reasons but no injuries were reported, Slota said.
