Truck driver ticketed after getting stuck in Grand Ave underpass
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) — A Pennsylvania man was charged with careless driving after his truck got stuck in an underpass on Grand Avenue in Hackettstown.
On Friday, March, 6 at around 11:04 a.m., police responded to the Grand Avenue for a report of truck stuck in the underpass, police said.
When officers arrived on scene, they observed a 2015 Mitsubishi box truck stuck in the underpass, police said.
Police determined that Carey Cunningham, 52, of Folcroft was travelling north on Grand Ave when he misread the height sign for the underpass as 11 feet 8 inches. The underpass is 10 feet 8 inches and the trucks height was 11 feet 1 inch, police said.
Cunningham released air from the tires to get the truck out of the underpass and no injuries were reported, police said.
Grand Ave was closed between College View Drive and Allen Road for about an hour. Mansfield Township police assisted at the scene.
