Truck inspection nets 301 pounds of weed on I-80 in Warren County

KNOWLTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A commercial vehicle inspection led to the seizure of 301 pounds of marijuana, as well as an arrest, along Interstate 80 in Knowlton Township, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

Following a commercial vehicle inspection conducted by the New Jersey State Police at the weigh station, law enforcement officers obtained a consent to search a box truck from the driver, who was identified as Ian Munringayi, 42, of Fort Worth, Texas, authorities said.

As a result of that search, approximately 301 pounds of marijuana was discovered in the cargo hold, the prosecutor’s office said.

The documentation in the vehicle indicated that the truck was traveling from Chicago, Illinois, to the Bronx, New York. During the inspection, Munringayi allegedly provided a fraudulent international driver’s license, authorities said.

Munringayi was charged with first-degree possession with intent to distribute marijuana, third-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension, and fourth-degree possession of marijuana. He has since been released from the Warren County Jail pending further proceedings, the prosecutor’s office said.
