Two Hunterdon County assistant prosecutors promoted
FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson and First Assistant Prosecutor Joseph Paravecchia announce the promotions of two assistant prosecutors.
Tangerla Thomas was promoted to the title of Senior Assistant Prosecutor. SAP Thomas will continue to supervise the Criminal Investigations Unit, the Fatal Accident Collision Team, the investigation of bias crimes and incidents, and the Hunterdon County Municipal Prosecutors. She will continue to participate on the Mental Health Working Group as well. As a Senior Assistant Prosecutor, SAP Thomas will also intermediately supervise the legal staff and report directly to the First Assistant Prosecutor.
SAP Thomas formerly served as an Assistant Union County Prosecutor, where she spent most of her career as a skilled trial attorney, prosecuting and trying a variety of crimes and offenses. She is also an experienced municipal prosecutor, who served the municipalities of Elizabeth, Plainfield, and Irvington. SAP Thomas additionally worked for the Office of Attorney Ethics as deputy ethics counsel. Most recently, SAP Thomas represented the State in the prosecution of Brandon Petersen, a homicide trial that resulted in a guilty verdict for, among other things, first-degree murder.
Jessica Cardone was promoted to the title of Senior Assistant Prosecutor. SAP Cardone will continue to supervise the Special Victims, Forensics, and Megan’s Law Units, the investigation of human trafficking offenses, and the investigation of incidents of elder abuse.
As a Senior Assistant Prosecutor, SAP Cardone will also intermediately supervise the legal staff and report directly to the First Assistant Prosecutor. SAP Cardone previously served as an Assistant Warren County Prosecutor in the Special Victims and Cybercrimes Units. She is an experienced trial attorney, who has tried many significant cases involving sexual assault and related offenses to verdicts. Prior to her service as an assistant prosecutor, SAP Cardone was an associate at Florio Perrucci Steinhardt & Fader, LLC, where she focused her practice on labor and employment law.
