UPDATE: Missing mother, 2 kids from Morris County have been found safe

MONTVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County mother who went missing with her two kids on Sunday have been found safe, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll announced Thursday night.

Cheng Hsiao, 39, along with Ethan, 3, and Ian, 2, from Montville Township were reported missing on January 23, Carroll said.

Through the extensive cooperative efforts of the Montville Township Police Department, New York City Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies working with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Missing Persons Unit, the three missing members of the Hsiao family have been found safe and unharmed, Carroll said.

Their location will remain undisclosed and her husband, Kanhan Hsiao, has been informed that his wife and children have been located and are safe, Carroll said.

Cheng Hsiao and her children have indicated they will not to return to the marital home in Montville. They are being assisted by state authorities, Carroll said.

No charges are being filed at this time, Carroll said.

“Due to the sensitive nature of this case and an ongoing investigation, no further information will be made available,” Carroll said.
