VIDEO: Hopatcong officers rescue driver, dog from car after rollover crash

HOPATCONG BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – Police rescued a man and his dog trapped in a car after a crash in Hopatcong Borough.

On Aug.12, Officers Gerald Mancuso, Mathew Kondreck, and Daniel Campione responded to Nariticong Avenue and Beacon Road for a rollover crash with entrapment and a smoke condition, police said.

As the officers arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the engine compartment. Ptl. Mancuso was able to cut the driver free and remove him from the vehicle The officers worked together and carried the driver to safety, police said.

The three officers were also able to remove the driver’s dog without harm, police said.
