WalletHub: New Jersey is 2020’s 3rd best state for teachers

NEW JERSEY – New Jersey has been ranked 2020’s 3rd best state for teachers, according to a study done by WalletHub.

WalletHub released their 2020’s best and worst states for teachers on Monday.

With World Teachers’ Day around the corner and teachers having to implement social distancing or online learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to WalletHub’s report.

In order to help educators find the best opportunities and teaching environments in the U.S., WalletHub analyzed the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 25 key metrics, ranging from teachers’ income growth potential to the pupil-teacher ratio to whether the state has a digital learning plan.

Teacher-Friendliness of New Jersey (1=Best; 25=Avg.):

  • 4th – Avg. Starting Salary for Teachers (Adjusted for Cost of Living)
  • 6th – Avg. Salary for Teachers (Adjusted for Cost of Living)
  • 3rd – Quality of School System
  • 4th – Pupil-Teacher Ratio
  • 2nd – Public-School Spending per Student
  • 29th – Teachers’ Income Growth Potential
  • 26th – 10-Year Change in Teacher Salaries
  • 9th – Statewide School Reopening
  • 1st – Existence of Digital Learning Plan
