WalletHub: New Jersey is 2021’s 9th happiest state in America

NEW JERSEY – New Jersey is 2021’s 9th happiest state in America, according to a study done by WalletHub.

With 4 in 10 adults having reported symptoms of anxiety or depressive disorder during the COVID-19 pandemic, the personal-finance website Tuesday released its report on 2021’s Happiest States in America.

To determine where Americans have the highest satisfaction with life, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 31 key indicators of happiness. The data set ranges from the depression rate and the positive COVID-19 testing rate to income growth and the unemployment rate.

Happiness in New Jersey (1=Happiest; 25=Avg.):

  • 1st – % of Depressed Adults
  • 1st – Suicide Rate
  • 18th – Number of Work Hours
  • 3rd – Separation & Divorce Rate
  • 14th – Safety
  • 11th – COVID-19 Positive Tests in the Past Week per Capita
