Warren County Commissioner James Kern calls on NJ Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control to reverse special event limit on breweries
Special ruling, effective July 1, limits breweries to hold 25 on-site activities.
WARREN COUNTY, NJ – Warren County Commissioner James Kern III issued the following statement in opposition to the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s recent ruling that caps events at breweries to 25 per year as well as 52 private parties. Breweries will also be limited to attend 12 off-premises events.
“Once again Trenton bureaucrats have found a way to hurt a growing industry in our state. New Jersey’s microbrewing community has shown tremendous resiliency over the past two years and found creative and fun ways to attract locals and visitors alike to their establishments. Capping special events such as game nights and performances from local musicians and comedians will significantly hurt local economies,” Kern said.
Kern plans on crafting a resolution for the Warren County Commissioner Board opposing this rule. He says neighboring state beer groups are rightfully mocking the rule.
“We need the Governor to immediately stop this ruling and work with the legislature to develop a long-term plan for supporting our microbrewing communities and help them grow and succeed in New Jersey. Warren County has a thriving brewing community in every corner of our county. With our proximity to Pennsylvania, making a quick trip across the Delaware River would mean avoiding these significant regulations, and many of these breweries may do just that,” Kern said.
