Warren County man dies after striking tree on I-78

WARREN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County) – A Warren County man died Friday after he went off the highway and struck a tree in Somerset County, according to New Jersey State Police Sergeant Alejandro Goez.

The accident occurred on Interstate 78 west at mile post 36.5 in Warren Township, Goez said.

According to Goez, a Ford Crown Victoria, driven by Stephan Tarnawsky, 35, of Washington, went off the roadway to the right and struck a tree.

Tarnawsky sustained serious injuries and was transported to Morristown Medical Center. He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, Goez said.
