Warren County to auction surplus property on Sept. 16

WHITE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Looking to start a library? You can pick up a Freightliner bookmobile and a book return box this Saturday at Warren County’s auction of surplus property.

Those are just a couple of the odder items in the county auction, the first to be held in two years. Scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16, the preview begins at 8:00 a.m. and the first of hundreds of items goes on the block at 10:00 a.m. at the Warren County Roads Division Garage, located at 185 County Route 519, south of Belvidere in White Township.

The auction features used vehicles including passenger cars, light trucks, heavy-duty trucks and transit buses, and even a fire truck that was retired after the county Fire Academy replaced it with a newer used model.

Heavy equipment such as a tow-behind mixer and a compressor, a road grader, snowplows and a Yale Fork Lift is available, as are scores of smaller items, like filing cabinets, shelving, computer monitors and a Sears Craftsman Table Saw.

The items have been retired by Warren County government as well as by the county’s municipalities, who are offered the opportunity to piggyback on the county auction to sell local stuff. Washington Borough and the townships of Greenwich, Liberty and White all have items on the block.

“Not only do we have many, many items this year as you can see from our list but you can enjoy the weather and the beautiful scenery Warren County has to offer,” Warren County Purchasing Agent Marie Watters, who coordinates the auction, remarked. The auction, which usually takes place annually, has been a popular attraction, bringing folks out year after year to see what deals they can pick up and bring home – an auction rules do require you to remove the items within a few days.

“Whether you come to buy or just maybe want to catch up with some old friends we would love to have you,” Watters remarked.

Details are available on the website of US GovBid, the company that runs the auction for Warren County, at www.usgovbid.com/warren-county-2023.
