Weekday road closures for temporary breach of Openaka Lake Dam

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Starting today, Openaki Road will be closed between Mountainside Drive and Casterline Road in Denville Township Monday through Friday, weather permitting, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Morris County Engineering Department’s contractor, Salmon Bros. of Netcong, will begin a temporary breach of the dam and spillway for Lake Openaka, which is connected to the Openaki Road bridge.

The primary detour for all traffic in this area will via Mountainside Drive, Everdale Road, and Shongum Road. Detour signs and other traffic control measures will be in place during this construction to divert traffic. Motorists should anticipate delays or plan alternate routes.

The work is planned to be completed by mid-October.
