Westbound and eastbound lane closures scheduled for overnight hours along I-78 toll bridge New Jersey approach Aug. 21-25

NEW JERSEY – A series of overnight lanes closures are scheduled along the I-78 Toll Bridge’s New Jersey approach highway during the week of Aug. 20, according to the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.

The lane closures are need for repair and replacement of deteriorated asphalt joints along the busy roadway segment, the commission said.

The scheduled travel restrictions are as follows:

  • I-78 Westbound from the Phillipsburg/Routes 22 and 173 interchange (Exit 3) to the I-78 Toll Bridge
    • Monday, Aug. 21 — 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (next day) — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)
    • Tuesday, Aug. 22 — 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (next day) — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)
  • I-78 Eastbound from the I-78 Toll Bridge at the Delaware River to the first New Jersey exit — Phillipsburg /Routes 22 and 173 interchange (Exit 3)
    • Monday, Aug. 21 — 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (next day) — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)
    • Tuesday, Aug. 22 — 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)
    • Wednesday, Aug. 23 — 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)
    • Thursday, Aug. 24 — 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)
    • Friday, Aug. 25 — 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)

Motorists are urged to reduce speeds and exercise caution when traveling through active work zones. Travel impacts — if any — should be minor, the commission said.
