Woman, 62, accused of selling Xanax in Mount Olive Township

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Budd Lake woman accused of selling prescription Xanax pills was arrested following an investigation in Mount Olive Township.

On August 5, at 11:41 a.m., officers were on Route 46 when they observed Shelley R. Briggs driving a 1998 Toyota Sienna in the area of Sand Shore Road. A few minutes later, an officer observed her vehicle complete an illegal U-turn and then conducted a motor vehicle stop, police said.

During the course of the police investigation, it was determined that Briggs recent location was not consistent with her statements, police said.

Briggs provided consent to search her vehicle and personal belongings. During the search, officers located a recent prescription for Xanax and twenty-five of the prescribed pills were missing, police said.

Upon completion of the investigation, police determined that Briggs allegedly sold the pills, police said.

Briggs was arrested and charged with distribution of Xanax, and Improper U-turn. She was released pending a court appearance.
