Woman, 84, killed and son injured in attack in Washington Borough home, report says

WASHINGTON BOROUGH, NJ (Warren County) – An 84-year-old Washington woman was killed and her 52-year-old son injured in an attack Tuesday night in a home in the 100 block of Wayne Street in Washington Borough, according to lehighvalleylive.com.

Warren County Prosecutor Jim Pfeiffer told lehighvalleylive.com that a neighbor called 9-1-1 just after 8:15 p.m. to report a disturbance at the house.

Responding police officers found resident Elaine Trachin, 84, dead in the home. The manner of her death is homicide and an autopsy on Wednesday will aim to determine the cause of her death, Pfeiffer told the news outlet.

Trachin’s son, 52, who also lived in the home, had serious injuries, and was flown by medical helicopter to a trauma center and was in intensive care, Pfeiffer told lehighvalleylive.com.

Pfeiffer didn’t say how the woman was killed or how the man was injured, but did say neither contributed to the other’s injuries, according to lehighvalleylive.com.

No one was in custody as of Tuesday and the investigation is continuing. No motive was apparent and nothing was stolen from the home, Pfeiffer told the news outlet.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office at 908-475-6275.
