Woman accused of driving wrong way on Route 22 in Readington Twp charged with DWI

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A Somerset County woman accused of driving the wrong way on Route 22 in Readington Township now faces DWI and related charges.

Ongelique Shariff, 39, of Bridgewater was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit breath samples, reckless driving, traveling the wrong way on a one way street, speeding, failure to possess registration or insurance cards, and making improper turns.

On Dec. 4, at around 12:52 a.m., a township officer observed a vehicle traveling Route 22 East in the West bound lanes near Ridge Road. The officer was able to stop the vehicle at the intersection of Route 22 and County Line Road, police said.

The driver was identified as Shariff and the officer allegedly detected the odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle, police said.

Shariff allegedly failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested, police said.

Shariff was charged and later released to a sober adult.
