Woman accused of shoplifting twice before job interview at Byram ShopRite
BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County woman is accused of shoplifting twice before her job interview at the Byram Township ShopRite.
Donna Moorman of Newton was charged with two counts of shoplifting, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled substance not in the original prescription container.
On March 27, police were advised of a shoplifting which had occurred at the ShopRite, located on Route 206, police said.
Upon arrival, officers were advised that Moorman had come to the store for a job interview. When she was told that the interview wasn’t until the next day, Moorman then allegedly shoplifted numerous items by concealing them in her purse and leaving the store, police said.
Moorman was scheduled to return to the store on March 28 for her interview and an employee stated they would contact police when she returned. When Moorman returned the next day for her job interview, she was arrested for the previous shoplifting, police said.
A search of her belongings revealed a small unmarked bottle containing approximately 28 tablets of controlled dangerous substance available only through prescription, as well as additional stolen property, police said.
Upon reviewing the surveillance video, police determined that Moorman, had allegedly committed an additional shoplifting just prior to her job interview.
Moorman was released pending a court appearance.
