Woman accused of stealing police department’s cell phone charger

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A woman has been charged after she allegedly took a Mansfield Township police department’s cell phone charger.

On Sept. 28, Kathleen M. McKechan, 43, was arrested on a warrant and while waiting in the police lobby for a ride, she asked an officer if she could borrow a charger for her cell phone, police said.

The officer provided a department charger and later learned that McKechan had left with the charger, police said.

The officer contacted McKechan twice and told her she needed to return the charger. She agreed to return it each time but did not even after being told she would be charged with theft, police said.

The charger was not returned as of Oct. 10 and she was charged with theft.
