Woman airlifted to hospital after head-on crash in Sparta Twp

SPARTA TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) A Lake Hopatcong woman was airlifted to the hospital Thursday night after a head-on crash in Sparta Township, police said.

The crash happened at around 9:45 p.m. on Woodport Road in the area of Mara Boulevard, police said.

According to police, a Silver Saturn Vue, driven by Brendan Huff, 19, of Sparta Township, was travelling north on Woodport Road in the area of Mara Boulevard when he lost control of his vehicle going around a curve, and crossed into the southbound lane striking a white Honda Civic, driven by Bita Eidelkhani, 31, of Lake Hopatcong, head-on.

Huff complained of head pain, but refused medical attention, police said.

Eidelkhani suffered multiple fractures to both arms and legs, a broken femur, and a broken kneecap. She was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center, police said.

Huff was issued summonses for bald tires and failure to keep right, police said.
