FRANKLIN BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – The woman accused of shoplifting from the Franklin Borough ShopRite in 2019 has been arrested. However, police are still searching for the man, according to Franklin Borough Police Department Detective Lieutenant Nevin Mattessich.
Marianne Murphy, 55, of Bloomingdale was recently charged with one count of shoplifting and lodged in the Keough-Dwyer Correctional Facility, Mattessich said.
Murphy was identified after her image, which was depicted in video surveillance, was identified through the use of facial recognition technology, Mattessich said.
The man depicted in the video surveillance is still being sought, Mattessich said.
The incident occurred on July 30, 2019 at around 9:52 a.m. at the ShopRite in Franklin Borough, Mattessich said.
Murphy and the man had “paid” stickers on hand that they allegedly affixed to the merchandise as they proceeded through the store. They then left the store without purchasing the merchandise, Mattessich said..
Items stolen included an air conditioning unit and miscellaneous items. The value of the merchandise is near $1,000.00. Murphy also attempted to take an LCD television, Mattessich said.
