
Woman charged with DWI after crashing into utility pole and leaving the scene in Hackettstown
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County woman is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated after she allegedly crashed into a utility pole Wednesday evening and then left the scene.
According to Hackettstown police, On Jan. 13, at around 5:41 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Route 182 and East Ave for a report of a motor vehicle crash.
Through a police investigation it was determined that Jennie Worthington, 46, of Mansfield Township was driving a 2020 GMC pickup truck and when she made the left turn onto Route 182 from East Ave, she struck a utility pole, police said.
The impact caused the front passenger tire to become dislodged and Worthington then drove away from the scene. A witness followed the vehicle to a residence on Highview Terrace in Mansfield Township, police said.
Prior to officers arriving on scene, it was reported that the driver’s vehicle was on fire and being extinguished with a garden hose. When officers arrived on scene, the officers observed Worthington’s heavily damaged vehicle in the driveway, but there was no active fire, police said.
Police determined that Worthington was under the influence of alcohol and no injuries were reported, police said.
Worthington was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, and reckless driving. She was released pending a court appearance.
