Woman charged with vehicular homicide in fatal Morris County crash

CHATHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County woman faces charges in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on March 28 in Chatham Township, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.

The three vehicle crash happened at around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Shunpike Road and Lafayette Avenue, Carroll said.

A Nissan Rouge, driven by Yulia Raynova, 45, of Madison Borough, had been traveling west on the roadway into the intersection, and struck a Jeep Wrangler, driven by Michael Pacchia Jr., 52, Chatham Township, which was traveling south. The Wrangler then impacted a box truck parked on the opposite side of the intersection, Carroll said.

Pacchia was pronounced dead at the scene, Carroll said.

As a result of the investigation, Raynova was charged on Thursday with one count of second-degree vehicular homicide and multiple motor vehicle offenses, Carroll said.

The Chatham Township Police Department, Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit assisted in the investigation.
