Woman flown to the hospital after being run over by her own vehicle in Warren County
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A woman was flown to a hospital for treatment after being run over by her own pickup truck in Hackettstown.
The incident happened at 2:11 p.m. Monday on Grand Avenue near Robins Court, police said.
Upon arrival, officers observed Samantha Gardner, 24, of Hackettstown lying in the southbound lane of Grand Avenue, police said.
Through a police investigation, it was determined that Gardner was travelling north on Grand Avenue in a Sierra pickup truck when her vehicle stalled. She then got out of the vehicle, began walking to the front and that’s when the vehicle started rolling backwards, police said.
Gardner attempted to jump back into the vehicle through the driver side door and as the vehicle continued to roll backwards, she was knocked to the ground by the open driver side door and the front driver side tire rolled over top of her, police said.
The vehicle continued to roll backwards coming to a stop down an embankment next to the driveway of 809 Grand Avenue, police said.
Gardner suffered an abdomen injury and was transported by Hackettstown First Aid & Rescue Squad and Saint Clare’s Paramedics to Hackettstown Medical Center where she was then flown by Atlantic Air 1 to Morristown Medical Center.
