
Woman gets 30 days jail for theft, violation of probation charges in Sussex County
NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County woman was sentenced to 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to theft and violation of probation charges, according to Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch.
Rachel Pier, 42, of Hamburg was sentenced before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on October 8, Koch said.
Pier was sentenced to 30 days in the Morris County Correctional Facility and her probation was terminated. She was ordered to provide a DNA sample and pay fines and fees totaling $155.00, Koch said.
Pier pled guilty on August 30 to fourth-degree theft, and to a violation of her existing period of probation, Koch said.
According to Koch, Pier took a cell phone left at a Hardyston business on June 4.
Pier was represented by Shaun Russell, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
