Woman gets probation for heroin possession in Sussex County

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Pennsylvania woman was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to possession of heroin, according to Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch.

Ashely Mizzer, 32, of Kendall Park was sentenced before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on January 7, Koch said.

Mizzer was sentenced to three years of probation with conditions to mimic recovery court to the extent possible.  She was ordered to submit to a substance abuse evaluation and follow any and all recommendations made from same, sign waivers as required, submit a DNA sample and pay fines and fees totaling $1,155, Koch said.

Mizzer pled guilty on November 8 to third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, Koch said.

According to Koch, Mizzer was in possession of heroin on July 3, 2021 in Hopatcong.

Mizzer was represented by Shaun Russell, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
