Woman in critical condition, man arrested after stabbing in Sussex County

GREEN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – The New Jersey State Police has arrested a man following a Saturday morning stabbing in Green Township that sent a 59-year-old woman to the hospital in critical condition.

Troopers responded at 8:56 a.m. to Rachel Lane for the report of a stabbing, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Charles Marchan.

When troopers arrived, they found Karen Novato-Selimi of Green Township suffering from stab wounds, Marchan said.

Novato-Selimi was transported to an area hospital for treatment and listed in critical but stable condition, Marchan said.

Louis Selimi, 25, of Green Township was arrested and charged with criminal attempted murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and lodged in Morris County Jail pending a detention hearing, Marchan said.

The relationship between the victim and suspect was not released.

“This is an active investigation and there is no additional information available,” Marchan said.
