
Woman pleads guilty to shoplifting charges
NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – An Essex County woman has pleaded guilty to shoplifting charges, according to Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch.
Filoreta Bruncaj, 40, of West Caldwell pled guilty to two counts of third-degree shoplifting, and two counts of fourth-degree shoplifting before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on May 18, Koch said.
In pleading guilty, Bruncaj admitted that on Dec. 26, 2019, she entered the Sparta Township ShopRite and purposely took items totaling $349.80 that were displayed for sale without the intent to pay for them and with the intent to permanently deprive ShopRite of those items. She further admitted that on Jan. 1, 2020, she again entered the Sparta Township ShopRite and purposely took items totaling $341.83 that were displayed for sale without the intent to pay for them and with the intent to permanently deprive ShopRite of those items, Koch said.
Additionally, on Jan. 25, 2020, Bruncaj entered the Sparta Township Stop and Shop and purposely took items totaling $703.93 that were displayed for sale without the intent to pay for them and with the intent to permanently deprive Stop and Shop of those items. She also admitted that on Jan. 15, 2020, she entered the Newton ShopRite and purposely took items totaling $871.50 that were displayed for sale without the intent to pay for them and with the intent to permanently deprive ShopRite of those items, Koch said.
Bruncaj is scheduled to be sentenced on June 24, 2020.
