Woman sentenced to probation for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in Sussex County

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A New York woman was sentenced to probation for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in Wantage Township, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart.

Desiree Vanwingerden, 31, of Middletown was sentenced on March 2 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Taggart said.

Vanwingerden was sentenced to three years probation and in addition to the standard conditions of probation, she must also complete random urine monitoring, a TASC evaluation, follow all recommendations and pay $1,205 in fines and fees, Taggart said.

Vanwingerden pled guilty on Dec. 13, 2022 to third-degree knowingly possessing a controlled dangerous substance. In pleading guilty, she admitted to knowingly possessing a controlled dangerous substance in Wantage Township, Taggart said.

Vanwingerden was represented by Matthew W. Young, Esq., and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Assistant Prosecutor Karen A. Lodeserto.
