Woman struck, injured by NJ Transit train in Morris County

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A woman was struck and injured Saturday afternoon by a NJ Transit train in Morris County.

The woman was hit by a Morris & Essex train at around 2:27 p.m. at Convent Station in Morris Township, NJ Transit spokesperson Jim Smith said.

The woman, whose identity was not released, was transported to an area hospital and the extent of her injury was not known as of Sunday morning, Smith said.

None of the approximately 150 customers and crew aboard the train, which departed Dover at 2:03 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station New York at 3:39 p.m., were injured, Smith said.

Train 6926 was cancelled at Convent Station with customers accommodated by the following train and no other service was affected, Smith said.

The crash remains under investigation by the New Jersey Transit Police.
