1 seriously injured after being rear ended by tractor-trailer on I-80 in Morris County, state police say

WHARTON BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – A woman was seriously injured after her car was rear ended by a tractor-trailer Thursday afternoon in Morris County, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Charles Marchan.

The crash happened at around 7:40 p.m. on Interstate 80 eastbound at milepost 38.8 in Wharton Borough, Marchan said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Subaru SUV, driven by Danielle Marushan, 32, of Highland Lakes, and Volvo tractor-trailer, driven by Gary Johnson,  63, of Scranton, PA, were traveling east on I-80 when the Subaru slowed and stopped in the lanes of travel due to a prior motor vehicle crash and was struck from the rear by the Volvo, Marchan said.

Marushan suffered serious injuries and Johnson suffered minor injuries, Marchan said.

The crash remains under investigation and no additional information was available, Marchan said.
