Lightning strike blamed for electrical fire at Hunterdon County building

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A lighting strike was the cause of an electrical fire at a building in Hunterdon County, according to a post on the Quakertown NJ Fire Company’s Facebook page.

On Friday afternoon, fire crews responded to a suspected lightning strike with smoke coming from multiple buildings on Joe Ent Road in Franklin Township. When firefighters arrived on scene, smoke was observed, authorities said.

According to firefighters, an electrical fire had occurred in at least one building as well a transformer fire on the street due to a solid lightning strike.

Both buildings were searched for any extension of the fire before companies were released, authorities said.
