ANDOVER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man is accused of stealing $9,600 from envelope that man dropped in a bank parking lot in Andover Township.

On Jan. 5, at 3:22 p.m., police received a complaint pertaining to the loss of $9,600 in cash from the First Hope Bank parking lot off of Newton-Sparta Road, police said.

Upon the arrival of officers, they spoke with the victim who had just withdrawn the cash and during the course of returning to their vehicle, dropped a substantial amount of money. The victim drove away and then later realized he was missing an envelope, police said.

Upon returning back to First Hope Bank to retrace steps, the victim found the dropped envelope which contained only $400 of the $10,000 which had been withdrawn, police said.

Officers responded to Agresta’s residence and after a brief dialogue with him, he turned over the $9,600 in cash to them, police said.

Agresta was taken into custody for the third-degree theft of mislaid property and was also found to have an outstanding warrant for child support out of Passaic County. He was processed and released to the custody of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department, police said.
