Man charged with DUI following wrong-way crash on I-80 in Warren County; 1 injured

ALLAMUCHY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A Sussex County man was charged with driving while under the influence after allegedly traveling the wrong way and causing a head-on crash on Interstate 80 in Warren County on Sunday morning, according to New Jersey State Police Trooper Brandi Slota.

At around 4:32 a.m., New Jersey state troopers responded to a report of a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 in Allamuchy Township, Slota said.

Shortly after the initial call, troopers were informed that the wrong way vehicle struck another vehicle head-on in the area of milepost 16.6, Slota said.

A 61-year-old man from Bushkill, NY, who was in the vehicle that was struck, suffered minor injures and was transported to an area, Slota said.

The driver of the vehicle traveling in the wrong direction, was identified as Daniel Williams, 24, of Wantage Township, and he was subsequently arrested for driving while under the influence, Slota said.

The crash remains under inveisgation investigation and no further information was released.
