New member named to Raritan Valley Community College’s Board of Trustees

BRANCHBURG TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County)Raritan Valley Community College’s (RVCC) Board of Trustees welcomed new member Michael Goldberg at its meeting on Dec. 19.

The Hillsborough resident was appointed to the position by the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners.

Goldberg’s business career has included working for major companies such as the Hertz Corporation, where he was the Director of Franchise Operation, and MCI, where he served as Regional Manager. Leaving the corporate world, he transitioned into health care and  consulted with a number of companies that offered newly developed wound care therapies and surgical procedures.

After entering into partial retirement, he became a certified substitute teacher and is currently employed by the Hillsborough Township Board of Education. He is also employed by the State of New Jersey, currently serving as President of the Somerset County Board of Taxation.

In addition, he is President of the J.S. Henderson Scholarship Fund for Adult Education Board of Trustees, which has made awards to students attending RVCC. He also served on the Board of Directors and was a volunteer for the Food Bank Network of Somerset County for 12 years.

After studying at American University, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Upsala College. He also concurrently earned credits at RVCC, then known as Somerset County College, which enabled him to graduate from college in 3 ½ years.

Goldberg is married and has two adult sons, one of whom graduated from RVCC.

Jay Edwards

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music. Jay has held numerous jobs over the years such as stunt car driver, bartender, voice-over artist, traffic reporter (award winning), NY Yankee maintenance crewmember and peanut farm worker. His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher. Jay has been a guest on America’s Morning Headquarters,program on The Weather Channel, and was interviewed by Sam Champion.
