Route 46 daytime lane and shoulder closures required in both directions this week in Morris County

At least one lane of traffic will be maintained in both directions

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ – Varying right lane and shoulder closures are scheduled on Route 46 eastbound and westbound this week from International Drive in Mount Olive Township to Old Travel Way in Roxbury Township and from Ballantine Street in Roxbury Township to Scrub Oaks Road in Mine Hill Township.

From 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 24, and continuing daily Tuesday, April 25, through Friday, April 28, at the same time, the right lane and shoulder will be closed on Route 46 eastbound and westbound between International Drive in Mount Olive and Old Travel Way in Roxbury.

The lane and shoulder closures are necessary to upgrade curbs and drainage inlets.

Once work is completed on this section of Route 46, it will move to the next work zone between Ballantine Street in Roxbury and Scrub Oaks Road in Mine Hill. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained on Route 46 eastbound and westbound in each work zone.

Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays or plan an alternate route.

This work is part of the $10.5 million state-funded maintenance project that will make repairs on approximately three miles of Route 46 in Morris County. Work includes milling and paving, improvements to the drainage systems and storm water basins, installation of new sidewalks and ADA-compliant curb ramps, and upgrading curb.

The project is expected to be completed in fall 2023.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for real-time travel information.
