Warren County Sheriff’s Office warns of spoofing scam

WARREN COUNTY, NJ – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of someone spoofing their main number and claiming they are a Warren County Sergeant, according to Warren County Sheriff James McDonald.

A male with no accent is soliciting personal information from residents throughout New Jersey and New York, McDonald said.

A person is telling the victim that they have a warrant or leaving voice messages saying that they have paperwork to pick up, McDonald said.

The caller has been identifying himself as Sergeant Sam Carr and the phone number appears to be coming from the Warren County Sheriff’s main telephone number, 908-475-6309, McDonald said.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office does not solicit personal information over the telephone. Anyone receiving these calls, should inform the person that you will hang up and call the Sheriff’s Office directly, McDonald said.
