1 dead, 2 injured in crash in Hunterdon County

HAMPTON BOROUGH, NJ (Hunterdon County) – One person is dead and two others were injured following a crash in Hunterdon County.

The crash happened at around 7:44 a.m. on Route 31 southbound at milepost 39 in Hampton Borough, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Trooper Troy McNair.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Subaru passenger vehicle, driven by Christopher Jones, 56, of Hampton Borough, was traveling northbound on Route 31 and a Mack tractor was traveling southbound in the left lane when Jones entered the left northbound lane of travel, against the flow of traffic, subsequently colliding with the Mack tractor, McNair said.

The driver and passenger of the Mack tractor suffered minor injuries. Jones suffered fatal injuries, McNair said.

The crash remains under investigation and no additional information was available, McNair said.
