1 flown to hospital, 2 others injured in head-on crash in Somerset County
BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — A two-vehicle crash involving entrapment on U.S. Route 202 Thursday morning in Bridgewater Township left one person seriously injured and two others hurt, authorities said.
Bridgewater Township police responded to the crash at approximately 11:09 a.m. at the intersection of Route 202 and Milltown Road.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 2004 Honda Civic was traveling southbound in the left lane when it veered left, crossed the grass median and entered the northbound lanes. The vehicle then collided head-on with a 2017 Chevrolet van traveling northbound in the left lane.
The driver of the Honda sustained serious injuries and was trapped in the vehicle. The individual was extricated by the Bradley Gardens Fire Department and airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick by the New Jersey State Police Medevac unit.
Two additional occupants of the Honda suffered moderate injuries and were transported by ambulance to the same hospital.
The driver and a passenger in the Chevrolet van were not injured, police said.
