10 children, 1 adult injured in school bus crash on Route 31 in Hunterdon County

GLEN GARDNER BOROUGH, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Eleven people, including 10 children, were injured in a school bus crash in Hunterdon County Sunday afternoon, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash happened at around 3:12 p.m. on Route 31 southbound near milepost 37.5 in Glen Gardner Borough, Lebron said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a school bus was traveling southbound on Route 31 when the driver of lost directional control, veering off the roadway to the right, striking a mailbox, and ending up in a ditch, Lebron said.

Ten children and one adult passenger sustained minor injuries, Lebron said.

State police did not release the name of the bus company.

The crash investigation remains ongoing and no additional information was available, Lebron said.
