13-year-old airlifted to hospital following football injury in Sussex County

SPARTA TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A 13-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital following a football injury at Station Park in Sparta Township.

On Saturday, at around 8:11 p.m., a 13-year-old youth football player sustained an injury on the field that temporarily resulted in a loss of feeling in his legs, Sparta Township Police Captain Thomas Snyder told RNJ.

Emergency responders were called to the scene, and a helicopter was requested to transport the boy to the hospital, Snyder said.

The boy regained feeling in both legs before the helicopter arrived. However, out of caution, he was still flown to the hospital for further evaluation, Snyder said.

As of Sunday morning, there are no updates on his current condition.
