Firefighters extinguish early morning basement fire at apartment building in Warren County
MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Firefighters extinguished an early morning basement fire at an apartment building in Mansfield Township.
On Saturday, March 15, at around 6:17 a.m., Tri-County Fire Company was dispatched to reports of a smoke condition at Mansfield Village. Upon arrival, the fire chief discovered smoke and flames in the ceiling of the basement in one of the units. Given the situation, the call was upgraded to a working structure fire, and additional units were requested.
Fire crews arrived and quickly deployed a hand line, placing it into operation. Firefighters discovered the fire was burning between the floor of the first floor and the ceiling of the basement.
The fire was extinguished and brought under control in less than an hour. All occupants were able to safely evacuate the building without injury.
The fire is currently under investigation by the Washington Township (Morris County) Prevention Bureau.
