Hunterdon Health receives 11th consecutive straight ‘A’ hospital safety grade

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Hunterdon Health received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for Spring 2025. This national distinction recognizes Hunterdon Health’s achievements in protecting patients from preventable harm and error in the hospital.

“We are proud to be nationally recognized for patient safety by receiving eleven consecutive A grades.  This signifies our outstanding effort and attention to patient safety which is at the forefront of everything we do,” stated Patrick Gavin, President and CEO of Hunterdon Health.

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over thirty national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, injuries and infections that can lead to harm or even death. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations Hunterdon Health, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”
