Hackettstown Rotary Foundation awards $7,000 in scholarships to local graduating seniors

WARREN COUNTY, N.J. — The Hackettstown Rotary Foundation awarded $7,000 in scholarships this past June to three graduating seniors from Hackettstown High School and Warren Technical School.

The awards, given in memory of past Rotarians and community leaders Kevin Guyette, Marian Bredin and Prof. Robert T. Quade, honor students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and service to their communities.

Hackettstown High School graduates Yaseen Zoklat and Olivia Keoppen, along with Warren Tech graduate Ivanna Weng, were this year’s recipients.

Zoklat, a member of the National Honor Society, served as president of the Science Honor Society, vice president of the Math Honor Society, and co-captain of the boys varsity soccer team. He plans to major in biomedical engineering and computer science with a minor in business.

Keoppen, a captain of the varsity swim team, also tutored peers in multiple subjects and participated in Tri-M Music Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society and the National Honor Society. She was also a member of No Place for Hate, a student-teacher panel. She plans to major in Spanish and psychology.

Weng, of Warren Tech, participated in the school’s computer science career program, served on the yearbook staff and was inducted into the National Honor Society. She was also active in the robotics team, archery club, and theater productions.

The Rotary Foundation also credited an anonymous donor who helped supplement the scholarship fund for the 2025 recipients.

The Hackettstown Rotary Club, part of Rotary International, supports more than 35 local organizations annually with donations totaling more than $35,000.

Jay Edwards

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music.
