Washington Township officer, K-9 graduate from Union County training academy

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — Washington Township Patrolman Santamaria and K-9 Lupe have graduated from the Union County K-9 Training Academy following 18 weeks of intensive training, the department announced.

The academy provides specialized training for law enforcement K-9 teams, including narcotics detection, tracking, criminal apprehension and scent work.

Police officials said the department is looking forward to the team’s addition and encouraged residents to watch for them while on duty and at upcoming community events, including future K-9 demonstrations and the township’s National Night Out event in August.
