Teen dies after Route 519 crash in Warren County

HOPE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — A 19-year-old Blairstown man died Monday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash earlier this month in Warren County, according to New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded at approximately 4:28 p.m. Feb. 7 to a motor vehicle crash on County Road 519 North at milepost 46 in Hope Township, said Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, a state police spokesman.

A preliminary investigation found that a Dodge sedan operated by Christopher Lanzo was traveling northbound on County Road 519 when it was struck by a southbound Ford pickup truck. In the area of milepost 46.0, the front of the Ford impacted the right side of the Dodge, causing the Dodge to strike a snowbank, police said.

Lanzo sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. He died Feb. 9, police said. The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was released.

A GoFundMe page created by family members described Lanzo as a hardworking teenager who held two jobs and had recently purchased his own car. According to the fundraiser, he was driving home from work when the crash occurred.

The page states that Lanzo suffered severe head trauma and later died from his injuries. It also notes that he was an organ donor.

The fundraiser was established to help cover funeral expenses and support his family.
