MORRIS COUNTY, N.J. — Morris County Fire Marshal James C. Davidson has retired after 32 years of service with the Morris County Department of Law and Public Safety, county officials announced Wednesday.
Davidson began his career Jan. 1, 1994, as a fire instructor at the Morris County Fire Academy. He later joined the county as a part-time fire marshal in October 2014, became full-time assistant county fire marshal in May 2015 and was appointed county fire marshal in July 2017.
In addition to his work in fire prevention and investigation, Davidson supported county emergency management operations, including responding to calls while operating the county’s Mobile Ambulance Bus and assisting at fire scenes, motor vehicle crashes, community events and emergency standbys, officials said.
The Morris County Office of Emergency Management credited Davidson with playing a key role in departmental operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“His dedication, professionalism, reliability, and wisdom have made a lasting impact to our team and first responders across Morris County,” the office said in a statement. “Day or night – Jim has always been one phone call away.”
County officials thanked Davidson for his service and wished him well in retirement.
“Jim… THANK YOU for your 32 years of service to the Morris County community and for the countless lives you have impacted along the way,” the office said.
Davidson’s retirement marks the end of more than three decades of service to Morris County’s fire and emergency response community.
