NEW JERSEY — Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center and Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center have been named among the world’s best hospitals for 2026 by Newsweek, marking the eighth consecutive year both facilities have appeared on the list.
Both hospitals were also recognized as “All-Time Champions” for earning a spot on the ranking every year since it was first published.
The World’s Best Hospitals 2026 list was compiled by Newsweek in partnership with market and consumer data analytics company Statista Inc. More than 2,500 hospitals were evaluated globally, including 420 in the United States.
Morristown Medical Center ranked No. 53 nationally — the highest ranking of any New Jersey hospital — while Overlook Medical Center ranked No. 186. The two facilities were also included on Newsweek’s list of Best in Infection Prevention, which recognizes U.S. hospitals that performed above national benchmarks based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention infection measures and Leapfrog hand hygiene criteria.

The 2026 ranking includes hospitals across 32 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Australia and Japan, among others. Countries were selected based on factors such as population size, number of hospitals, data availability and overall standard of living.
Hospitals were evaluated based on recommendations from medical experts, patient satisfaction surveys, hospital quality metrics — including hygiene measures and patient safety — and participation in a survey on the implementation of patient-reported outcome measures.
Atlantic Health’s two medical centers joined institutions such as Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins Hospital on the global ranking.
