Police: Warren County woman charged after animals discovered in car without proper care

WASHINGTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Warren County) — A 61-year-old Franklin Township woman was charged with animal neglect after police discovered several animals inside her vehicle that were not being properly cared for, authorities said.

According to the Washington Township Police Department, officers were dispatched around 6:14 a.m. Feb. 12 to the 100 block of West Washington Avenue in Washington Borough to meet with a woman who reported someone was attempting to impound her vehicle.

During the investigation, officers observed that the woman had several animals inside the vehicle that appeared to be improperly cared for, police said.

An animal control officer responded and removed the animals from the vehicle. They were transported to a local animal shelter for evaluation, authorities said.

The woman, whose name was not released, was issued a summons for failure to provide a living animal with care and released pending a court appearance, police said.
