Hunterdon County Commissioner Soloway visits Y Child Learning Center, highlights programs and upgrades

HUNTERDON COUNTY, N.J. — Hunterdon County Commissioner Susan J. Soloway recently visited the Y Child Learning Center to tour the facility, meet with students and learn more about its programs serving local families.

During the visit, Soloway explored indoor classrooms and the center’s 26-acre property, which includes nature trails, open green space and outdoor learning areas. Officials said the center is planning several improvements, including a new playground and upgrades to its garden.

Students shared highlights of their spring gardening efforts, showing Soloway plants they are growing, including strawberry seedlings. The program is designed to teach children about nature, responsibility and healthy habits.

“It was such a joy to spend time with these students and see how excited they are to learn and grow,” said Commissioner Soloway. “The Y Child Learning Center creates a warm and supportive place where children can be curious, creative, and confident.”

The center recently received a Homeland Security grant to fund safety enhancements, including additional surveillance cameras and reinforced entry doors with improved locking systems.

Following the tour, Soloway read a story to the children, spoke with them about their daily activities and distributed gift bags. Students presented her with a handmade poster featuring messages and drawings.

Soloway also thanked teachers and staff for their work in providing a safe and supportive environment for children and families in the county.
